Indocrypt 2023 is part of the Indocrypt series organized under the aegis of the Cryptology Research Society of India. Indocrypt conference targets researchers and academicians in areas, which include but are not limited to foundations, new primitives, cryptanalysis, provable security, cryptographic protocols, and (post)-quantum cryptography. Submissions on cryptographic aspects of network security, complexity theory, information theory, coding theory, and number theory will also be considered.

Secure-IC will present two papers at INDOCRYPT 2023:

“Practical Aspects of Vertical Side-Channel Analyses on HMAC-SHA-2″ explains how to overcome the challenges associated with side-channel security analysis. A concrete analysis of an hash-based message authentication code (HMAC) is cumbersome owing to the use of both addition on integers and in finite fields, and to the combination of sensitive material with non-linear operations (e.g., AND). We derive a Common Criteria (CC) for non-profiled side-channel attacks on HMAC.”

“From Substitution Box To Threshold” is a join work with Nanyang Technological University (NTU) in Singapore. We formalize a methodology to derive side-channel protected implementations for block ciphers. Thanks to a tool, we provide several optimizations on implementations of practical relevance, such as ASCON (new NIST standard for Lightweight Cryptography) and PRESENT (ISO/IEC 29192-2:2019). For instance, we show over 31 percent reduction in area and over 52 percent reduction in depth compared to the basic threshold implementation.
